From left, Billy Ciotto, Retired Senator, Randy Edsall, honorary chairperson, Senator Paul Doyle, Eillen Edsall, honorary chairperson, Susan Hamilton, DCF Commissioner, Garrell S. Mullaney, CEO and President of The Children's Home. On May 22, 2008 The Children’s Home broke ground for a new residential treatment house for girls ages 13-18, starting Phase I of a two phase building project. This is the first new living space we have had in more than 30 years. While the space will not increase the number of children living here at one time, it will provide an up to date therapeutic living space for teen girls who have experienced multiple traumas in their young lives. The space will fully support the new treatment methods, milieu and philosophy which was adopted by the Home in 2006. This space represents our commitment to caring for girls, who have many fewer treatment options than boys in Connecticut. We continue to need the financial support of the community, our donors, businesses, and foundation in order to continue on to Phase II of this building project. There are many ways to donate, please contact Cindy Bartholomew for more information. (860) 635-6010, Ext. 312. |
