Covenant Women Walk 5K to Raise 10K

This fall the East Coast Conference Covenant Women’s Ministries (ECCCWM) raised $12,000 (including a $5,000 matching grant) to purchase kitchen equipment and supplies for The Children’s Home.
Known as "5k for 10k Walk-a-thon", more than 300 women participated in raising support and awareness for the work done at the Home. Those involved gave donations, collected them, and walked around Lake Swanzey in New Hampshire during one of the Fall retreats. Some even reported walking in the pouring rain to fulfill their obligation to the event.
This event raised more money than any the group had done in the past. The matching grant gave them added incentive, knowing that every dollar donated would be matched.
"With the addition of a walk-in freezer, we will save lots of money by purchasing certain food items in bulk that can be stored in our new freezer purchased by the funds," commented Mike Porter, Director of Food Services,
"When you serve 110,000 meals every year, you can better understand the importance of saving money on food costs without lowering the nutritional value of the meals," he added.
