CHAPLAIN
PROGRAM
Spiritual
Life Focus
The
Children's Home is blessed with its own
full-time Department of Pastoral Ministries. This effort is led by Rev. Robert Satterberg, Director of Pastoral Ministries and Chaplain Christopher
Adams.
They work extensively with the kids through
Christian Education classes, Bible Studies, chapel services,
classes taught at The Learning Center,
etc.
Both Rob and Chris also work with churches in the local area and beyond to provide pulpit supply, Pastoral Breakfast Series, local churches sending mission teams to The Home, and much more.
Though children of differing religious
beliefs
reside at The Children's Home and are
supported in practicing their families'
chosen faiths, the traditional principles
of the founders of The Home continue
to be apparent.
They learn about:
- God's
unconditional love for all people
- Their
unique value as an individual
- The joy
of service to others
The objective of the religious life
program is to help a child take the next step in his/her spiritual
growth. A full-time chaplain plans the religious program for the
children which includes weekly Christian education classes, grace
before meals, church in the community on Sundays, the opportunity
for daily devotions and in-home chapel services.
The Childen's Home was founded in 1900 by the East Coast Conference of the Evangelical
Covenant Church, and remains under its auspices today.
