Learning Center
SUPERVISOR, BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT
Full-time
Provide oversight and leadership for all Teacher Support Counselors and Teacher Support Specialists assigned to the Learning Center. Ensure development of a healthy therapeutic milieu and sound, trauma-informed treatment focused therapeutic behavior management at the school. Ensure adequate staff coverage on school days. Oversee and ensure communication between the Learning Center and other departments regarding behavioral issues of students and correct implementation of Individual Crisis Management Plans at the Learning Center. Handle crises and documentation. Requirements: BS/BA in human services field, and at least five years experience working with emotionally disturbed, behaviorally disordered youth, preferably in a special education school or residential facility. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
TEACHER SUPPORT COUNSELOR
Full-time
Provide guidance, supervision, mentoring and life skills training to youth who are both residents and students. Assigned to one of the five Residential Houses, the TSC ensures an orderly transition of youth from the House to the Learning Center each morning and from the Learning Center to the Residential House at the end of the school day. During the school day, the TSC assists the classroom teacher and other TSCs to strengthen students’ social and behavioral skills and maintain a healthy, therapeutic and educational environment in the Learning Center. The TSC serves as an educational liaison between the Learning Center and the House. Requirements: BS/BA in a human services field or minimum 60 credits in an accredited college or university with at least two years of relevant experience. Experience with seriously emotionally disturbed students and other special education school students preferred. Ability to work with students and other employees from diverse ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds is requisite. Training is provided. Must have a valid license and good driving record.
Residential Treatment
DIRECTOR, RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT SERVICES, BOYS
Provide daily direction, supervision and coordination of therapeutic services offered to young men in our residential treatment program. Requirements: LMFT, 5 years exp. in behavioral health + 2 years experience supervising clinical and residential staff. Knowledge of DCF guidelines and budget control preferred. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.
APRN/DIRECTOR OF NURSING
Full-time
Provide leadership and supervision in the Medical Department within Residential Treatment Services. Candidates must be certified as an APRN, have a BSN, preferable a Master’s, and have experience supervising RNs and LPNs; must have knowledge of DCF licensing requirements and requirements for COA accreditation. Experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred.

Promote, restore, and maintain optimum health of children in care and treatment and assist and/or substitute for the Director of Nursing in providing nursing procedures. Req: three years experience. Must hold a current State of CT Registered Nurse License. Must be able to work independently while seeking supervision when necessary. Must have training in administration of medications as part of basic nursing program or successful completion of pharmacology course and subsequent supervised experience.
THERAPIST
Full-time
Provide individual, group and family therapy to adolescent males and females in residential treatment. Requirements: MFT or MSW, eligible for license; experience in group and family modalities. Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR
Responsible for the efficient functioning and supervision of the adolescent boys’ House. Ensure development of a healthy therapeutic milieu and sound, Trauma-Informed Treatment-focused therapeutic programming. Schedule and ensure weekly staff coverage. Serve as Shift Supervisor on a rotating basis. Serve as liaison with each department that influences the programming in the House to create a treatment team approach conducive to the building of healthy therapeutic relationships between staff and residents. Train and supervise full-time Residential Counselors. Exempt position. Req: BS/BA degree in human services field and two years experience working with emotionally disturbed, behaviorally disordered youth, preferably in a residential setting. A valid driver’s license and good driving record to maintain insurance coverage through the agency’s insurance carrier is necessary.
AWAKE NIGHT SUPERVISOR I
Full-time
Responsible for overall functioning of the Boys’ and Girls’ Houses and supervision of Awake Night Counselors and Senior Awake Night Counselors on duty during his/her shifts. Provides for security of the physical plant and grounds. Promotes an environment throughout the nights that ensures the building of healthy, therapeutic relationships between staff and residents. Attend House Supervisors’ weekly meetings. When necessary, fulfills the responsibilities of a Residential Counselor, Awake Nights. Req: BS/BA in psychology, social work or a human services field, and some experience working with youth with severe trauma histories, behaviorally disordered children. Some experience working awake nights is necessary as is some supervisor experience. Willingness to be trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, CPR and First Aid, Risking Connection and DCF Medication Certification is mandatory.
AWAKE NIGHT COUNSELOR
30 hours (w/benefits)
Responsible for overall care and security of residents during the third shift (9:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.). May be involved in physical restraints to ensure safety of residents and staff. Provide for security and normal functioning of the physical plant and grounds. Reqs: BS/BA in psychology, social work or a human services field or AS and equivalent experience is required as is the ability to establish a respectful relationship with residents. Previous experience with youth with severe trauma histories is preferred. Must be willing to be trained in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, Risking Connection, CPR and First Aid. Must be DCF Medication Certified or become Med Certified within 6 months of employment. Ability to remain calm and maintain control in a crisis situation is required. Experience working awake nights is preferred.

Mentor adolescent females, provide life skills training. 8 hr. shifts, combination schedule: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. & 2 – 10 p.m. with weekend shift. Requirements: BA human services field; 1 yr. experience with ED youth.
