June 9, 2009 was an historic moment at The Children's Home of Cromwell CT as the ribbon was cut to celebrate the opening of the 1/4 mile paved Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Pathway around the Home's athletic field.

The $52,800 grant from Anthem for this project is the single largest non-campaign grant to The Children's Home in its history.
OPENING A NEW DOOR FOR TEEN GIRLS
On Wednesday, April 8, 2009, The Children’s Home cut the ribbon on the new Girls’ House. This event was hosted by The WAY (Women Advocates for Youth), a new women’s group established to help The Children’s Home gain in recognition and prominence for their services to teen girls, and to the children in their therapeutic residences. Donna Collins, a member of The WAY emceed the event, and was assisted by Kenya D’Agustino, Gerry Hyjeck, Lillian Cruz, and Ladene Paulino.
Honorary Co-Chairs, Randy and Eileen Edsall, and Capital Campaign Co-Chairs Patrick Walsh, partner at May, Bonee & Walsh, and Laura Hall, greeted the more than 70 guests who had committed funding to support the new house.
Senator Paul Doyle read Governor Rell’s proclamation and was thanked for continuing to help us raise an additional $400,000 in bond funding with the help of Retired Senator Billy Ciotto, who raised the first $400,000. Rev. Harold Spooner from Covenant Ministries of Benevolence spoke of, "the importance of the ministry of this agency. Children must have a place to heal, and this is that place."
Linda Reilly Blue, Chair of The Children’s Home Board of Directors thanked all major supporters by name and thanked all others as a group. Major gifts and grants were given by the State of Connecticut (Billy Ciotto, Paul Doyle), U.S. Dept of Housing & Urban Development (John Larson, Chris Dodd), Covenant Ministries of Benevolence, American Savings Foundation, Allied Construction, David and Faye Belman, Carrier Corporation, CT Light & Power, Rev. The total donation of these supporters equals $1.698M.
