Types
of Treatment
The residential component
of The Children's Home provides a very
special envrionment where children are offered
opportunities to succeed through involvement
in a variety of activities. From development
of social skills to leisure time, children
are given the opportunity to learn, the
direction and strength to grow and a
strong foundation on which to build positive
futures.
Our motivation system is implemented within the context of positive therapeutic
relationships. Once the child has settled into the unit routine, the building
upon the individual's strengths begins.
The goal at The Children's Home - "to return each child to his/her community
with a more positive and productive attitude" - is approached through
the treatment team. The team works together with other involved individuals
to address the specific needs and highly specialized services required by
each child and their family. This results in a "whole child" approach
to treatment.
Family Therapy
With our focus on children and families, The Children's Home utilizes masters'
level marriage and family therapists in the delivery of individual, group and
family therapy.
Whether children return to their original homes, or find new ones, it is part
of the philosophy of The Children's Home to make sure that the children are
allowed to develop into mature, responsible adults. We focus on hierarchies
and boundry-setting for all systems that impact on our approuch to working
with children from a multitude of diagnoses.
