Medical Services

The Children’s Home offers a fully staffed Medical Department for 2 shifts seven days a week. Our nurses, in consultation with either our consulting psychiatrist or pediatrician, utilize the services of specialist physicians, dentists and hospital facilities in the area as necessary to maintain the wellness of our residents. They oversee the application of emergency medical services and transportation. In addition to caring for the general health of each resident, the Department maintains all health records, provides for intake physicals, integrative medical communications, administration of all medications as ordered and assures follow-up with other physicians, hospitals and pharmacies. They review the capabilities of certified personnel in the delivery of all indicated medical treatment.

The Department assigns one of its member nurses as a liaison to each house to ensure coordination of services and attention to treatment planning and implementation. Nurses participate in the weekly rounds conducted by our consulting psychiatrist.
