Spiritual Life Program
Spiritual Life Focus
The Children's Home is blessed to have a Department of Pastoral Ministries led by Chaplain
. Our residents have the opportunity to voluntarily participate in Christian Education classes, Bible Studies, Chapel Services, and discussion groups. We will also make arrangements for them to attend services of other faiths in the community.
Chaplain Chris has a God given musical talent which he shares with all the children. He encourages them to develop their own abilities through a unique singing and recording program which the kids have tagged “da Boof”. Over the past 5 years, these singers have cut over 300 CDs. In the process these young artists are exposed to all types of music from classical to R&B; from Gospel to hip-hop. They also get to know Chaplain Chris and he is always there for them!
Though children of differing religious beliefs reside at The Children's Home and are supported in practicing their families' chosen faiths, the traditional principles of the founders of The Home continue to be apparent.
They can learn about:
- God's unconditional love for all people
- Their unique value as an individual
- The joy of service to others
Participation in the religious life program helps a child take the next step in his/her spiritual growth.
Chris also works with churches in the local area and beyond to provide pulpit supply and to be a liaison to those congregations sending mission teams to The Home, and much more.
The Children's Home was founded in 1900 by the East Coast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, and remains under its auspices today. |
