Learning Center Volunteering

The classroom size in our Learning Center is much smaller than classes in larger public schools and provides our students with a more intimate learning environment.  Students receive more one-on-one attention and assistance as they work through their academic difficulties.

Classroom Volunteers assist both the students and their teachers in the classroom by giving struggling students the extra support they need to complete assignments and catch up on extra work.  Volunteers must be available to work during school hours and must be screened as required by the State of Connecticut.  Volunteers with special skills or interests can be placed in classrooms where those talents can best benefit our students.  Some of the opportunities for Volunteers are:

Computer Lab
Gym Classes
Greenhouse/Science Lab
Art Classes
Culinary Arts Classes

Please contact , Volunteer Coordinator for The Children’s Home by phone (860) 635-6010 ext. 363 for more details about how to begin valuable Volunteer Service as a Classroom Volunteer at The Learning Center.
